Echoes in Form — A New Chapter for Fabio Borg at Form Showroom
Form Showroom is proud to present Echoes in Form, a solo exhibition by Maltese artist Fabio Borg, curated by Charlene Vella.
This exhibition marks an important turning point in Borg’s artistic journey — one defined by a bold embrace of abstraction, intensified colour, and a growing confidence in expressive mark-making.
A Confident Evolution in Visual Language
Over recent years, Borg’s painting has undergone a striking transformation. Earlier bodies of work often balanced representation with emotional depth, holding space between the familiar and the felt.
In Echoes in Form, that balance shifts decisively. The representational world recedes, giving way to compositions where forms loosen, colours ignite, and shapes emerge as impressions rather than depictions.
These new works are not tied to the visible world but instead arise from memory, sensation, and atmosphere.
Colour as Structure, Energy, and Emotion
One of the most compelling developments in Borg’s current practice is his treatment of colour. His palette has become richer, braver, and more assertive — carrying the immediacy of gesture while remaining intentional and controlled.
Here, colour is no longer a supporting element; it becomes the architecture of the work. It defines rhythm, creates tension, and gives shape to internal states. The paintings pulse with energy, layered movement, and chromatic depth.
Abstraction as Distillation, Not Departure
While these works diverge from direct representation, they do not reject reality. Instead, Borg’s abstraction functions as a distillation of experience — a way of capturing emotional undercurrents rather than outward appearances.
Each piece invites viewers to rely on intuition, allowing personal interpretation to guide the encounter. The results are compositions alive with harmony and dissonance, searching and resolution.
An Artist in Full Command of His Voice
Echoes in Form stands as a testament to Borg’s growing self-assurance and his willingness to explore new territory. Where his earlier voice was more restrained, his current work resonates with clarity, freedom, and conviction.
