Our visit to the Milan ‘Salone del Mobile’ Design Week 2019

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Designers around the world have unveiled their latest creations with earth-friendly materials and unusual and innovative shapes being among the most prominent themes. Launched in Milan in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian exports of furnishing and accessories, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile has now become the global benchmark event for the furnishing and design sector. Every year, creative crowds swarm to Milan to experience an intensive design week where the undisputed protagonists are always innovation, originality, quality and buzzing soirées! We, at Form, couldn’t miss out on such an incredible experience especially because most of our supplier brands have fabulous displays and their latest furniture designs on show. So, last month, we jumped on a flight ready to trawl Milan’s streets and discover the most pioneering projects, the trailblazing collaborations, and the inspiring products this fair could offer us.

This is our chance every year to discover and bring our supplier brand’s latest furniture innovations to Malta that we believe our customers will appreciate and love in their homes as much as we do.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

1. NATUZZI ITALIA

The Human Side of Design.

Natuzzi Italia released two new collections at the Salone del Mobile: DANDY and ERGO.

DANDY:  Renowned designer Marcel Wanders who last year designed the Agronomist and Oceanographer collections inspired by Puglia for Natuzzi, now visualizes a new protagonist of the modern lifestyle, someone who expresses love for his territory through the objects that surround him. The best expression of this collection is the sofa Skyline, which is defined by asymmetric lines of urban skylines, enriched by the refinement of matelassé on backs and by a practical “relax and motion” function which is electrically operated.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9539″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]ERGO: This collection is a project designed for the bedroom, signed by international designer Ross Lovegrove. Yes, Natuzzi is more than just sofas and armchairs. They have expanded their collection fully to include bedroom furniture as well as dining room furniture and they are truly beautifully designed pieces that you must visit in store to experience in person. The ERGO collection is all about living fluidly: the bed and the chaise-longue have soft and reassuring profiles, the chandelier floating in air like a weightless cloud, the lamp, traced by two rods like slim branches. The result is a “landscape” that is light-hearted but solid, where each element evokes the tactile and visual feelings of nature. The sensation of tranquillity and safety generated by the ERGOnomic shapes envelops the space: shapes “created by the Earth for the Earth […].” [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9540″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

2. HÄSTENS

The Creative Collaboration

After a long walk and a couple of strong Italian espressos it wasn’t difficult to glimpse the iconic blue check beds standing out from the crowd of none other than Hästens , the latest addition to our collection of brands in Malta. They launched two dreamy new bedlinen collections called BEING and IRIS and as expected, they are absolutely fabulous! These collections reinterpret Hästens’ heritage through the collaboration of two high-profile creative minds, Ilse Crawford and Lars Nilsson.

The BEING collection celebrates the beauty of natural materials. It includes a headboard, a bed skirt, bed linens and a lumbar pillow in a soothing palette of natural hemp and linen plant fibers, with shades of crisp white, taupe and dark gray.

IRIS, Lars Nilsson’s new bed linen collection, pays homage to the natural world in a different way. The designer wants to reinterpret Hästens’ famous blue check motif with the hand-drawn garden-inspired palette that nods to the iris blooms of the great English gardens.

The BEING and IRIS collections can be already ordered in our showroom in Malta on Valley Road, Msida.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”9561,9557,9556,9542″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

3. BONALDO

The Total Look.

Bonaldo’s stand, as always, was designed to the finest detail. Specially for the Salone del Mobile 2019, Bonaldo, one of the top exponents of the excellence of the ‘Made in Italy’ marque, presented its latest collections as a single project: “Bonaldo Total Look”. The fil rouge of the exhibition is the creation of dynamic spaces for both residential and contract markets, where everything is interconnected.  The living area harmoniously creates a sense of unity with the sleeping area through creativity, contemporary elegance and a touch of irony.

The selection of the finest materials is also a distinctive trait of Bonaldo collections. The images below showing Bonaldo’s latest creations will surely inspire you as it did us![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”9513,9515,9512,9511,9509,9508,9506,9505″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

4. RIMADESIO

The solid integrations of finishes and materials.

Our next stop was another brand we represent in Malta, the exquisite Italian company Rimadesio. They presented an interpretation of a modern and innovative house, with a new collection of furniture designs that incorporated adventurous and sophisticated design elements and finishes. In its 400 square meters of exhibition space, Rimadesio exposed an extremely sublime collection showcasing an amazing variety of new creations for both the living space and the night area. In the sleeping section, Rimadesio included some exclusive new versions of Abacus, the walk-in closet that becomes a proper room having extremely thin and geometric horizontal elements.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9547″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Among the novelties of the living area, they showcased Wind bookcase featuring cantilever shelves in a platinum structure as well as the stunning new Manta table which is now available in a black nickel structure.

Visit us in store so you can see, feel and appreciate the designs of this beautifully crafted furniture we genuinely love.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9549″ img_size=”full”][vc_single_image image=”9552″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

5. JESSE

The Logiko collection

The next exhibitor on the list is Jesse. This year, they introduced a new collection of bedroom cabinets with innovative storage features. What inspired us most at Jesse, was the Logiko sideboard bookcase, a versatile and elegant piece of furniture featuring transparent glass doors, a Marglas top and metal feet.

Spoiler Alert: It’s on its way to Form at the moment and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase it![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”9530,9583,9528,9527,9525,9526″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

6. NOVALUNA

The great debut: Cedric bed.

It was a great debut for Novaluna at the Salone del Mobile last April. Amongst the most acclaimed new products launched, the star of the show was Novaluna’s bed Cedric featured first in the images below. It features a soft headboard with an inclined profile, metal legs with a flowing design and a thin bedframe which expresses comfort and softness.

We really like this bed and it will also be showcased at Form soon![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”9532,9533,9534,9536,9535″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

7. IMPERIAL LINE

Craftmanship and Industrialization.

Last but not least, another member of our Form family, is Imperial Line. With its new range of products, the brand shows its ability to follow the trends without compromising on quality.

This year, they displayed a series of cabinets for the living and dining area.  We now have the possibility of selecting from different modules consisting of a choice between drawers, doors and open shelves to create our preferred cabinet in terms of storage, function, and overall design. In addition, these cabinets are available in finishes that complement all the dining tables and chairs produced by the company.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”9558,9559,9560,9522,9516″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You can view fine examples from Natuzzi, Bonaldo, Rimadesio, Hästens, Jesse, Novaluna and Imperial Line at Form in Valley Road, Msida or on our website @ Form.com.mt.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
